Tips That Can Save Your Kid’s Life.

    THIS IS IMPORTANT

When I was a child, from the time I was about four and could understand things, my mom told me and my brother that we should have a secret word. That way, if we were ever in trouble or felt unsafe and we didn’t want the people around us to know we needed her to come get us, we could let her know. So she let us pick the word and my brother and I chose the phrase “peanut butter cups.” (I’m happy to share the phrase now since both my brother and I are adults now).

I used the phrase twice in my life. Once, I was at a friends house when I eight years old. Her dad got really drunk and was throwing things against the wall. I was really scared and I didn’t want to draw attention to myself on the phone when I called my mom to come get me because I didn’t know if he would get more violent if I asked her to come get me. So I called her and was calm and after a couple minutes I asked “Hey mommy, did you get me those peanut butter cups from the store?” And she said “I’ll be right there.” And she came and got me within minutes.

Second, I was a teenager spending the night at a friends house. Her brother and dad were drinking and they started talking about things that made me uncomfortable - ie: what they liked to do to women. My friend didn’t seem perturbed and said that was normal for them and that I shouldn’t worry. But I was worried because they were really drunk and I was 15 and the only ‘woman’ around that wasn’t related to them. I went in my friends room, told her I needed to call my mom and say goodnight. Before I hung up with her I asked “Next time we go to the store, can we get some peanut butters cups? I’ve been craving them.” And she came and got me, just like that.

Two incidents, one as a young child, one years later as a teen. Don’t discredit this stuff, it fucking works. My brother used it a few times too. Let your child pick the word and no never, ever, ever, ever get mad at them for using it no matter what it is.

    DO NOT SCROLL PAST THAT.

Off topic, but very important! I was taught to yell “this is not my mom/dad.” A young kid freaking out in public is likely to be ignored out of embarrassment, but a kid telling you right out that they don’t know who is messing with them? That will turn heads.

    Reblog this.💯🗣💋

I feel like this should be said too if you see a child yelling things like “this isn’t my mum, or I don’t know you” or something don’t ignore them! This system relies on people actually helping the child! It dosent matter how rude you’ll seem or how anxious you are you could be saving a child’s life!

Even if you just ask the child “Do you know this person” if the adult butt’s in make sure to ASK THE CHILD! Even a shy kid will tell you they don’t know this person or just met them or something!

    DON’T IGNORE THE SIGNS!

    ALWAYS REBLOG

Had to delete my other post because you could easily find my location by a building in the background (tysm for letting me know, btw!)

I feel sick to my stomach for doing this, but I truly don’t have a single person to turn to. I tried contacting my father to see if he could take my cats in while I sort things out, but he said my step siblings don’t like cats and he doesn’t want to pick a fight with my step mother.

I couldn’t raise the funds on time, and unfortunately I got evicted from my apartment a few hours ago, so now I have to somehow raise enough to pay off back-rent and find a place while I get back on my feet. My landlord’s lawyer called to say he’ll be taking this to court if necessary. So yeah, I’ll take making a fool of myself on the internet over making my life even more miserable.

To be honest, I don’t have a fucking clue how could I even get out of this, but i’ll be damned if I don’t try.

If you would like to help, you can do so here. Reblogs are highly appreciated as well ❤️‍🩹

yikes… that’s sooo much, but basically 2/3 of that are for paying off back rent :/

Firefighter demonstrates how to put out a kitchen fire

Reblog to actually save a life

To explain. The latter works because you’re cutting off the supply of oxygen to the fire and suffocating it

as opposed to slapping oxygen inside the pan with the downward motion

Reblogging, because this is so important. When I was learning how to cook for myself in my tweens, I had at least a five years of fire safety seminars from school drilling this into my head, and I STILL had that instinctive put-the-fire-out-with-water reflex. Didn’t even think. I saw our oily burner catch fire after frying eggs, whipped around towards the sink for water, and my brain immediately screamed NO!!! NO WATER! I mean that fire safety stuff straight up bitchslapped me out of REFLEXIVELY setting my house on fire. I found a pot lid and inched it over the burner before turning off the heat. Even if you think you know this stuff, panic is powerful shit. Make knowledge more powerful.

Still a good precaution. And definitely necessary for everyone for when life has returned to normal in like three years just in case you meet the love of your life and they’re positive.

    Couldn’t share this fast enough.

Rebloging this to add a little more info because it’s very important:

Antiretroviral therapy when used correctly can cause the user’s “viral load” (your viral load is how much of the virus is in your bloodstream), to drop because the medicine prevents HIV from creating copies of itself.

Regular blood tests are done to monitor your viral load, and after taking the medication long enough, it can drop so low that it becomes “durably undetectable”. This means that the HIV virus in you has become so miniscule that it can’t be detected, and by extension can’t be transmitted either. It’s important to note that in order to be considered durable undetectable, you MUST test as undetectable for at least 6 months after testing as undetectable for the first time.

Also very important, being durably undetectable does NOT mean that you’re cured or that the virus is gone, not by a longshot. The HIV virus is still very much there, but instead of being active, it’s gone dormant in a small number of cells called “viral reservoirs”. This why it’s EXTREMELY important that even after achieving durably undetectable status, you continue to take your Antiretroviral medications correctly. Because if you stop, the HIV virus will reemerge from the viral reservoirs and pick up right where it left off in creating copies of itself, and you will have to start all over again if you want to become durably undetectable again.

This is great advice for people struggling with or know someone who has HIV.

really really important and long post !!!

hello to my fellow filos or people living in the ph !! i got this from discord and i really think that this is an important thing to share.

theres a lot of cases of people being missing and kidnapped in the philippines at the moment. i hope everyone stays safe atm. there is a gang with a green or white (?) small van that kidnaps people, from what ive heard they’re kidnapped high school and elementary students.

    How to avoid getting kidnapped;;

    • If you have pepper-spray, or even alcohol, spread it on the kidnappers face so you have time to run and tell an authority.
    • Turn on emergency SOS from settings, press the power button many time so it automatically sends your location to emergency contacts.
    • Never go to secluded areas, Go to areas with several people so you could scream for help.
    • Wear a cap so kidnappers cannot easily pull your hair (?)
    • If a stranger asks where you’re going, do NOT reply to them. Doesn’t matter if its in a rude way.
    • Don’t wear earphones, it can lower your guard at times. Avoid wearing jewelry and ponytails as well and do other hairstyles.
    • Always bring a guardian, friend (groups) with you.
    • If someone is following you, quickly go to a nearby store or guard. Do not let them bring you to their place, they could even torture us to death Act crazy or/and vomit on them, they dont like gross people.
    • Instead of screaming “HELP” scream “FIRE”. people might not care.
    • if the van pulls up, run in an opposite direction. Ask a police/guard for directions instead of strangers.
    • Make sure to bring a defensive weapon with you. If you’re not good with hands bring a tazer, dagger or any short range objects with you.

please spread this info !! even a like or reblog can help.
